about us

Grund Theatre is a Hungarian applied improvisation organisation working internationally at the crossroads of arts, learning and intercultural collaboration.
For 16 years, we’ve been creating workshops and international projects that use improvisation to bring people together, spark creativity and build connection.
We love creating playful, human-centred experiences with our partners across Europe — in communities, businesses and on stage — always with a focus on collaboration, curiosity and co-creation.

what we do
Improvisational theatre performances & artistic collaborations — professional and co-created shows, international artistic partnerships
Educational and non-formal learning programmes — intercultural formats, community-based and participatory approaches
Applied improvisation workshops & trainings — communication, leadership and non-verbal skills development
International mobility and exchange projects — cross-border collaboration, artist and facilitator exchanges
PARTNERSHIPS
There are two ways that we can add value to an international partnership.
training & education
We can contribute to international partnerships with our experience in education and training. We make learning practical, we take solid theoretical concepts and make them real and practicable for participants.
artistic collaboration
We are experienced in creating and collaborating on artistic projects. We create theatre shows that are socially exploratory, innovative, entertaining and participatory with a cast that have international experience.

our approach
We take seriously what Improvisation is capable of. On stage we challenge audiences and stretch the bounds of what is expected from improvised theatre.
In the community we apply the same principles to create inclusion for the marginalised and to foster communication between disparate groups. We are dedicated to expanding participation and connection using the very simple core principle of “Yes, and…”.
Improvisation encourages listening, attention, adaptability and collaboration. It creates space for curiosity, shared creation and intercultural dialogue.
For us, improvisation is the search for answers — together.
Team
We are a multidisciplinary team with extensive experience in international cooperation, project management, education, facilitation and the arts. Over the years, we have contributed to European projects both as lead partners and consortium members, navigating complex partnerships with confidence and flexibility. We thrive at the intersection of different fields, cultures and perspectives. And because we come from an improvisation background, we are particularly good at collaboration, communication and adapting when plans inevitably change.

The best collaborations often start with a simple conversation.
If you see potential for working together, let's connect and see where it leads.
